Face Masks

By now, people are starting to realize that ‘Universal Masking’ is a real thing! This virus has a plus minus 5-month span from start to finish. It has been an incredible experience to be on the cutting edge of consistent research & development in order to help South Africans feel safe. As a Fashion Designer / Manufacturer & Stylist, I decided to use my skills to help people feel  C A L M – E R  during this pandemic.

‘My mask protects you. Your mask protects me.’

THE STORY

My mom has cancer and when my Dad went to buy her regular everyday face masks, they were all sold out. I went online to buy for her but to our dismay, the only masks available we’re 20 disposables for R2500. That’s when I decided to manufacture masks!

THE FACTS

They are not surgical but they will help prevent you from touching your face. With it being a 200 thread count and double layer, it does prevent droplets from escaping and entering the atmosphere.

THE FABRIC

I have used 100% White and Charcoal Cotton Percale to ensure comfort & breathability.  200 Thread Count (World Health Organisation recommends 180 Thread Count or above). Be aware that Polyester or Poly/Cotton masks can cause irritation to the skin and cause you to sweat, this is why I have opted for 100% Cotton percale. They are Eco-Friendly, washable & re-usable.

THE CONSTRUCTION

There is a small wire inserted above the nose area to ensure it fits snug against the face. They are Two-ply and manufactured as an envelope where you can insert your own filter if need be.

FILTER OPTIONS

  • Facial tissue
  • Charcoal filter
  • Coffee filter
  • Vacuum cleaner bag (cut up)

CARE FOR YOUR MASK

  • Wash by hand or on a delicate cycle in your washing machine.
  • Don’trub the wire area.
  • Iron your mask, make sure you don’t iron elastic or wire over the nose (it will melt!)
  • You can spray your mask with sanitizer during the day if you wish
  • Don’t wear a wet face mask, it doesn’t offer much protection.
