This Seasonal colour palette speaks for itself! I often think of Skiing down the Italian slopes in winter and seeing brightly coloured snow suits popping out against the optical white powder. The contrast is striking and the colours are jewel in tone. This is a picturesque sight for any first timers.
Coming up as a Winter means you have a Cool undertone. This means your under layer of your skin appears blue which is cool. Your overtone or colour of your skin could be neutral, rosy-pink, olive or deep. Your eyes could be Blue, Green, Hazel, Grey, Brown or Dark Brown. Your hair colour could range from Brown through to Black. If you are salt & pepper or grey, you will also fit into this category.
When choosing between white or cream, you would choose white. There are variations within the white spectrum. You could wear optical white but certain skin tones look better in a milkier white. Try on one or two variations in store and see which one you feel better in. You may find you are happy to wear both. Cream is too yellow for your skin tone; it will make you look drawn and a bit unwell.
Black or Charcoal suit you and are great neutrals to include in your wardrobe. If you are a more natural style personality you many prefer the browns, khaki or taupe’s instead.
Choose True Red or a more blue-red when deciding on a red. Your colour palette is also great to use when choosing makeup or nail colours.
The Winter palette includes pastels. If you love pastels than these are for you. If you have a more dramatic personality you may not love these…and that’s ok. The pale blue can work into the denim category, think about the soft chambray shirt look. There are so many variations. Trends in fashion also play in this space seasonally which can give you great options. I often find that my salt & pepper or grey-haired clients gravitate towards these colours. They seem to be softer on us as we get a little older. You decide on what you love here.
When it comes to accessories & jewelry, silver, white gold & rose gold are more you. If your wedding ring is yellow gold. Please don’t rush out and change it. Being sentimental far out ways rules. You can make your gold jewelry work if you pair it with a top in your colour palette. The colour will be a larger reflection than the jewelry. It is all about balance & proportion.
If you have a favorite colour which is not part of your Season, you can wear this colour on the bottom instead of at the top, close to your face. Let’s try and make it work. The colour on the bottom won’t reflect against your face like it would at the top. Pair it with a top in one of your colours and you will be good to go!
Remember to play and have fun with colour!
