Can they be washed in the washing machine?
Yes, they can be washed in the washing machine on a delicate cycle (like your underwear). You can also wash them by hand. Please wash in COLD WATER only as cotton and elastic shrink in hot water. The wire might twist a little but just smooth it over with your fingers when it comes out the wash. The mask has elastic and a metal wire inserted so if you iron please don’t iron over these areas as they will melt.
What are the finished dimensions of the face mask with regards to the adult vs. the kid sizes?
Adult mask: 18.5 cm x 9.5cm (There are 3 x 1cm pleats which open up over the nose and mouth area, this takes the 9.5cm to 12.5cm when the mask is on)
Kiddie mask: 17.5cm x 8.5 cm (There are 3 x 1cm pleats which open up over the nose and mouth area, this takes the 8.5cm to 11.5cm when the mask is on)
What detergent should I use to wash my mask?
Ideally an Eco-friendly detergent such as Nu-Eco laundry gel.
Faithful by Nature has a great selection of natural products to choose from.
How do I get makeup off my mask?
Ideally use an Eco-bleach eg. Nu-Eco bleach powder. Soak in the bleach and then hand wash or machine wash on a delicate cycle. Too much spinning will cause elastic to snap.
My mask is moving around on my face, what should I do?
Ensure elastic is tight enough if it is tied in a small knot in the elastic.
If you have stubble on your face the mask will move around. Try it again once cleanly shaven
What do I do if the wire twists inside the casing after wash?
Use your fingers to smooth it out, It should like flat again. Try to avoid rubbing over this area when washing.
My mask elastics are too long, what do I do?
Wash your mask first before adjusting elastics. If they are still too long after wash, tie a little knot in the elastic just behind the ear area. This will help your mask to fit more snug.
Can I iron my mask?
Yes, but don’t iron over the metal nose area or elastics
Can I use sanitizer on my mask?
Yes, you can spray 70% Alcohol sanitizer on your mask. Make sure it dries before wearing it. Never wear a wet mask as it does not offer you any protection.
My elastic pulled out, what should I do?
Remember those days when you used a needle and thread? This is a time when you need to sit down with a cup of tea and secure it with a needle and thread. You’ve got this!
Can I wear my mask when wet?
NEVER wear a wet mask as it offers little to no protection according to research.
How many times can I wash my mask?
Preferably wash it daily. The fabric part of your mask will last as long as your work shirt. The elastics may not last as long due to using chemical detergents or sunlight. Elastic loses elasticity eventually so at some point you may need to replace the elastics. Elastic can be bought at your local grocery store where the hair band/ needle and thread section is. Due to the pandemic happening so quickly we haven’t had sufficient time to test how many washes your elastic will last. Please look after your mask and make it last as long as you can.

Can you wear a wet mask?
Make sure to use dry masks. When masks get wet, even from the moisture emitted when a person exhales, the fabric could be more likely to transmit virus.
How much are the Kiddie packs?
The Kiddie & Adult packs are both R95 per pack for white & R12o per pack for charcoal grey. There is not much difference in fabric rating.
