There were 3 girls in my family plus my mom. For my Dad, travelling with us was so stressful as we brought our massive suitcases down to the car. This was probably one of the worst jobs trying to fit everything in. To top it all off, we used to run up and down the stairs as we realized we had forgot something. Today, my husband & Dad wished I had learnt what I know now back then!
Remember if you pack light, you can literally fit in 70+ Outfits into a 7kg carry on luggage bag with only 12 garments! Who needs more?
Here are 7 Packing Tips for your Holiday:
Lay your clothing on the bed and then eliminate one third – We always take too much! If you worried you don’t have enough, take laundry powder with for the odd item which can be hand washed.
Put your earrings through buttons so you don’t loose them, or use an empty contact lens case.
Put necklaces in between Glad wrap so they don’t tangle or thread them through a straw.
Turn your Blazers or jackets inside out so they don’t crease.
Roll socks and underwear, place in a zip lock bag and into your shoes.
Pack jeans & dresses, roll tops, pack belts round the edge of the suitcase.
Take small travel size items, glad wrap the top and then replace with caps to avoid exploding at high altitude.
Double bag toiletries.
Keep Toiletries in the suitcase for next time you travel.
Place shoes in first & fill the gaps with soft items.
Summer Holidays are about spending time at the beach or around the pool. My absolute favorite time of the year. A little Vitamin D goes a long way! What should we wear to achieve effortless Style this holiday?
Investment pieces are key to making it all work. Love every item you choose. Beautiful fabrics in simple styles ooze elegance. Choose your favourite jeans, most comfortable sneakers or sandals & your most versatile jacket or cardigan. If you a leggings kind of girl, these are great for a relaxed comfortable holiday look. (Don’t forget to wear a top which covers your bottom!) Simple T’s or a classic dress are great pieces to keeping it simple.
2. The Rule of “3”
Wear these 3 items at the same time!
Your basic outfit
Jewellry
A scarf, belt, statement shoe or handbag
Wear 3 colours at the same time!
This could be different tones of the same colour or different colours. Too many colours could look like a Christmas tree…unless this is the look you are going for.
Denim jeans
White T-shirt
Brown jacket & shoes
3. Focal Point
Create a focal point such as a beautiful earring, statement necklace or a coloured lip. A coloured sneaker or something metallic could create some interest to your outfit. This helps to achieve effortless style this holiday without trying to hard.
4. The French Hair
I love holiday time when I can just loosely tie my hair up in a bun. A few loose strands can look stylish. It’s cool & easy to manage especially after diving into the pool. Try a little less effort with your short hair…if you can!
5. Simplify Make up
I’m often torn between no make up or full make up! If you can’t go without makeup try this simple routine:
Moisturize & apply sunscreen
Use Kryolan foundation for a flawless look
I love MAC’s Black silicone pot which I use with an angled brush to create that liquid line above the top lashes. This is Waterproof and creates eye definition.
Waterproof Mascara of your choice. I use Clinique’s Waterproof Mascara but it’s up to you!
Pop on a clear or colored gloss to give you that ultimate Summer glow.
If you not mad about the dewy look you can finish with your KryolanTranslucent powder.
Looking Stylish at the office can really boost your self-confidence resulting in an increase in productivity as well as taking pride in your work. We all want to put our best foot forward & enhance respect towards each other within this environment. Our physical appearance is a tool which can be used to achieve this without saying a word. It really is a stepping stone towards success.
The photographs above are of a very special client, Sihle Mpungose. The above photoshoot was styled with existing items Sihle had in her wardrobe combined with items we bought on our shopping spree together. I put together these wardrobe capsules for her to wear to the office. It has made her life so easy. Doesn’t she look so stylish? We had such fun doing this shoot!
Here are 10 Ways to look more Stylish at the Office:
1. Plan your outfit the night before
Most of us are just shattered at the end of the day but believe me when I say it definitely saves time in the morning. It gives you the opportunity to put together something a little different and allows more time for creativity instead of throwing on the same outfit every day.
2. Match your pout to your pumps
This is a fabulous rule to follow for a quick stylish look. Pop on a nude shoe with a nude lip or a red shoe with a red lip. This instantly pulls your look together effortlessly.
3. Accessories are your best friend
Think of them as not just the icing, but they are the sprinkles on a chocolate cupcake. How much more decadent & delicious is a beautifully decorated cupcake? This is key to pulling off impeccable yet effortless style. Add a sparkly diamond or pearl necklace to a structured shirt. This immediately adds a more feminine element to your ensemble. Remember not to overdo the earrings, you don’t want to look like a Christmas Tree! Add a beautiful statement piece to your outfit whether it be a necklace, earrings, shoe or bag.
4. Add an impressive bag
This will transform your entire look! Consider adding a bag in your signature colour. A pop of Colour can take your outfit from drab to fab in the blink of an eye.
5. A Smart blazer or Coat
Dress up your trousers, jumpsuit or denim with a smart blazer or coat in a contrasting colour or different textured fabric. If you decide on a print, choose a timeless, classic print.
6. Add a feminine spin to the Androgynous suit
Add a lace camisole under your blazer.
Trade in your pencil skirt for an asymmetrical wrap skirt.
Ruffles on blouses or jackets add a more feminine look to your office wardrobe. It definitely softens that hard corporate image without taking away the respect factor.
7. Challenge yourself NOT to wear black
Try this! your outfit will automatically have a more Spring feel to it. If you can’t do white or cream, try substituting grey for black if you still prefer a darker shade. Grey is an update to your neutral palette. It gives an edge to your wardrobe. It is fabulous paired with Rose gold. Most colour seasons are able to wear a shade of grey.
8. Metallic shoe
A metallic shoe is a great way to update your wardrobe. It is a great substitute from your standard black pump or heel. It is an extremely versatile colourway which works fabulously in corporate wear as well as denim.
9. Choose your investment pieces in plain fabrics
This way you have more versatility & won’t look like you’ve worn the same blouse 2-3 times that week. Your wardrobe will go so much further. Remember, there is nothing more dated than yesterday’s newspaper and last seasons print. A Print has a short lifespan, it dates so quickly. Rather update your plain items with accessories.
10. Go from Day to Date Night in one outfit
I dress like this most days as I just don’t have time to re-charge between juggling kids & work. You can always throw in a pair of heels or a clutch to transform your day outfit into your date night outfit.

I am absolutely passionate about this video! Many have watched it using the word “Shocking!!” to describe it. I use the word “Brilliant!”. Society has brainwashed us into believing that we should be perfect. We need to view magazines as inspiration for fashion trends & beauty tips, not a measuring stick for our self-confidence. Stop taking it personally, we are human, we are real, we are not Barbie dolls. Lets embrace our perfect imperfections because ultimately that is the true essence of beauty.
I have consulted many clients who do not feel confident in the sexuality. This is because they lack the security & confidence of living in their skin. They believe they are not deserving of pleasure. This certainly affects the way they perform in the bedroom, let alone how they perform in the work place. A negative body image is sabotaging your femininity as well as your personal growth, development & confidence. Why do this to yourself?
Listen to the words you keep saying to yourself in your head. If this was an external person would you be friends with them? We are constantly beating ourselves up. We crit ourselves severely from the bags under our eyes to our cellulite. We need to practice authenticity, it is a daily practice of letting go of who we think we’re supposed to be and embracing who we are. Be the best YOU can be! Be comfortable in your skin. Don’t compare notes.
Keep your coffee in one hand and your confidence in the other:)
When we say “Dressing for Success on a Budget”, we automatically think of a wardrobe full of clothing from a cheaper store. Not so. You need very little clothing to dress for Success. It’s about quality, style and how you mix & match. What you are going to do is invest in key items in good quality fabrics with a fabulous fit. These items should be timeless and should last you at least 5 years if not longer. You are then going to add more on trend items to this collection of basics to extend your wardrobe and take it that much further.
Here are 10 Tips on other ways to Dress for Success on a Budget:
Spring Clean your Wardrobe, you may find items you forgot about & you can re-use or put together differently. Donate your shoes to the Robinhood Foundation.
Visit your Tailor. Alter a garment. Slim down a leg or shorten a skirt. Change the buttons. These ideas can automatically revitalize a garment.
Swop clothes with a friend who is the same size. Why not organise a “Swop Party”?
Update your wardrobe with a TREND Colour to suit your Colouring. Have a look at the latest Pantone Report for Spring/Summer 2016/17. Book a Colour Analysis to find out your season and which colours make you radiate.
Add a current Accessory. This will immediately update your wardrobe.
Invest in more plains and less prints. You will have more to work with. Prints are limiting & date easily. Know what prints are classics & which ones are trends. Classics will last longer.
Keep an eye out for Sales, buy investment pieces on Sale from good quality stores.
Follow the 70/30 Rule: 70% Timeless garments & 30% Wow factor items. Put these together & you have 100% Success.
Work out the “Budget Cost per Wear Formula”: Cost R100, Wear it 10x in a year = R10 per wear. This way you can see if buying that garment is worth it.
Mix & Match – Can the garment work with another 3-5 Styles in your wardrobe? We need to be able to create different outfits by utilizing the same garment.
Go ahead! Give it a try! You will be surprised how easy it is. If you battling, give me a shout and I can help you to look your best.
